Yirgacheffe Coffee

Yirgacheffee region is found within Gedeo Zone and is part of the larger Southern Nations and Nationalities People’s Region.

Six Woredas divide the Yirgacheffee region, those are: Wenago, Kochere, Yirgacheffee, Gedeb, Bule, and Dilla Zuria.

Similar like other regions, coffee is grown by smallholder farmers with farms that have total area size of between 0.25 to 2 hectares. These farmers deliver their coffees to washing stations that are near to their farms.

Flavors of the Yirgacheffee Region

Yirgacheffe coffee is probably one of the most widely known and admired coffee in the world. It has flavors and profiles you won’t find anywhere else.

Typical coffee from Yirgacheffe has a bright pointy citric acidity, well-bodied, and a balanced profile. You can find mocha combined with flowery, spicy elements, and an array of fruit flavors. A layered and complex wheel of taste. Besides the bright washed Yirgacheffe coffees, you can find balanced fruity and winey naturals.
